摘要: Abstract A two-scale numerical approach to predict the effective in-plane properties of helical filament-wound thin-walled cylindrical tubes is provided. meso-scale repeated unit cell (RUC) model for a tube established according manufacturing process, in which cross-overs, undulations and overlaps fibre bundles are described using bottom-up solid modelling technique. An implement general periodic boundary conditions finite element analysis scheme also presented. As an application example, elastic constants glass fibre/epoxy predicted influences number winding circuits shape analyzed discussed. In addition, stress/strain distribution RUC obtained provides essential information on concentration due cross-over/undulation/overlap. This then indicates location where damage will initiate.
