摘要: Objective: Informal care substitutes for or postpones formal long-term (LTC) use, especially in the Netherlands, where informal supply affects eligibility public LTC. The effect of potential within household has received less attention. We examine role spouse’s physical ability to provide explaining LTC use and transitions.Method: used Dutch respondents from waves 1 2 Survey Health, Ageing Retirement Europe. A mixed multinomial logit regression is model choice between no only, use. Transitions into are modeled with a regression.Results: Spouse but living alone remains important after controlling spouse ability. Other determinants having child , age, disability health status. explained by changes therein, respondent’s age. Discussion: reduces LTC, which implies that future compression morbidity/disability its impact would lower demand directly through increased care.
