摘要: Absorption of soil water by forest from the top 20 feet Southern Appalachian and South Carolina piedmont was compared through moisture matric potential measurements under 50- 50-foot plastic-covered plots. As predicted others, early absorption uniformly moist is related primarily to root concentration. However, later drier tended toward uniform extraction even beyond in depth. Nonhomogeneous horizons (piedmont) led irregular absorption, but still on. The data indicate that where kept low frequent rainfall, most transpired comes densely rooted surface soil, whereas well rooting depths returns during long periods without rain. mobility humid areas, a lesser extent needs particular attention use studies.
