摘要: Submicronic aerosol of sulfuric acid (H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/) originates from the burning fossil fuels and discharge vapor automobile engine equipped with catalytic converter. This study was conducted to determine whether brief exposure this in high concentrations adversely affects cardiopulmonary system. In all studies, submicronic sodium chloride used as a control. Anesthetized dogs that breathed H/sub 4/ up 8 mg per m/sup 3/ showed no effects on respiratory resistance, static lung compliance, functional residual capacity. A 4-hour (4 3/) produced significant changes mechanics breathing, capacity, pulmonary systemic arterial blood pressures, cardiac output, heart rate, gas tensions. Conscious sheep 14 for 20 min had alteration tracheal mucous velocity an immediate 3-hour follow-up period or 5 10 days later. m/sub 4 hours immediately 2 thereafter. Both normalmore » asthmatic adults breathing 1 volumes, distribution ventilation, ear oximetry, dynamic oscillation chest-lung system, capillary flow, diffusing O/sub 2/ consumption, tissue volume. No delayed function nor exacerbation bronchial asthma were observed during few weeks. The present indicates single does not produce adverse effect anesthetized dogs, conscious sheep, normal adults.« less
