Here, focus is on so-called ‘mycorrhiza helper bacteria’ (MHB). This concept revisited, distinction made between bacteria, assist mycorrhiza formation, those that interact positively with functioning After considering some examples from literature, ecological relationships discussed. The specificity effect addressed, an assessment progress understanding mechanisms effect, has been possible through development genomics. Finally, clear evidence presented suggesting promote illustrated three critical functions practical significance: nutrient mobilization soil minerals, fixation atmospheric nitrogen, protection plants against root pathogens. review concludes discussion future priorities regarding potentially very fruitful MHB.
