摘要: Studies have been conducted into the characterisation of behaviour commercial graphite (brittle) when subjected to hypervelocity impacts by a range projectiles. The experiments were with two-stage gas gun capable launching projectiles differing density and strength speeds about 6kms−1 at right angles target plates. damage caused is quantified measurements crater depth diameters. From experimental data collected, scaling laws derived which correlate dimensions velocity projectile. It was found that for moderate projectile densities obey '2/3 power law' applies ductile materials.
