摘要: A dc electric field experiment on the Air Force satellite S3-2 has occasionally detected intense localized fields near ionosphere projection of plasmapause. These poleward directed were observed in pre-midnight local time sector, seem to be related substorm activity, and typically exceeded 100mV/m. In one case was 280mV/m corresponding a drift velocity 9.8 km/s at an altitude 1463 km potential drop 25 kilovolts. possible source lies interaction between hot plasma freshly injected magnetic midnight cold plasmaspheric particles. Since is order mean ring current energy, this structure may have important consequences for understanding magnetospheric flow patterns under disturbed conditions.
