摘要: Scrapie and chronic wasting disease (CWD) are two prion diseases of particular environmental concern as they horizontally transmissible. Prions shed from diseased hosts in a diverse set biologic matrices present throughout the host. There is strong experimental evidence that properties soil water can significantly affect sorption, resistance to degradation, persistence, replication efficiency when bound soil, ultimately infectivity. Highly sensitive accurate detection infectivity environment not currently possible, severely hampering informed management disease. A more thorough understanding interaction prions with combination robust methods may lead means reduce or eliminating free-range captive animal populations well mitigating risk zoonotic transmission.
