PLA films with improved flexibility properties by using maleinized cottonseed oil

摘要: Abstract This work assesses the potential of maleinized cottonseed oil – MCSO as plasticizer in poly(lactic acid) PLA films with improved ductile behaviour. The effects are compared commercially available oil, i.e. linseed MLO terms mechanical, thermal and barrier properties, well morphology changes. Plasticized formulations were obtained a content 0–10 wt% range. Addition both vegetable oils leads to slight decrease glass transition temperature (Tg) neat from 63 °C 60–61 °C. Nevertheless, provides better overall properties. 7.5 wt% increases elongation at break by 292%. Regarding increase oxygen transmission rate OTR. this is less pronounced case thus indicating its higher efficiency MLO. On other hand, addition do not compromise disintegration formulations, positioning these additives environmentally friendly solutions properties PLA-based films.
