摘要: Abstract Purpose To evaluate, in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease no or mild alterations of function tests, carotid artery intima-media thickness and the presence plaques to define determinants vascular damage. Methods A paired-sample case-control study: 125 250 controls, without a prior diagnosis diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, matched for sex, age, body mass index. B-mode ultrasound was used evaluation small plaques. Results significant difference mean values (0.89±0.26 0.64±0.14 mm, P =.0001) prevalence (26 [21%] 15 [6%], =.0001), systolic blood pressure ( =.004), total low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ≤.02 =.01, respectively), fasting glucose risk and, only metabolic syndrome HOMA-insulin resistance =.01), index =.0003). At multivariate logistic regression performed overall series subjects, independent predictors higher than 0.64 mm were steatosis (odds ratio [OR]=6.9), age (OR 6.0), 2.3). Conclusion Patients even should be considered at high complications.
