High-pressure separation of CH4/CO2 using activated carbon

摘要: Abstract Activated carbon was evaluated as selective adsorbent for separation of CO2 from CO2/CH4 mixtures with special focus on high pressure applications. Adsorption equilibrium pure gases recorded at three different temperatures up to 8000 kPa CH4 and 5000 kPa CO2. Multi-site Langmuir, Virial Sips models were used fit the data predict multi-component equilibrium. Binary adsorption measurements binary breakthrough curves 10 20% balanced carried out pressures: 500, 2500 5000 kPa. A 1D mathematical model including mass, energy momentum transport describe using a non-ideal gas behaviour equation. is more selectively adsorbed than in activated this study. The capacity obtained could only be well described by model. In all curves, small effect film mass transfer observed, particularly higher pressures where pronounced. significant may limit application natural upgrading.
