摘要: Abstract Surface dissociation of ultrahigh vacuum-cleaved KCl during low-energy electron irradiation has been observed. The method employs a mass spectrometer to measure the desorption rate products and Auger spectroscopy for determination surface composition. results show that K, Cl 2 are desorbed from as neutrals. Above 100°C. constituents into vacuum is believed occur primarily through generation bulk defects followed by diffusion transport lesser extent, direct at surface. measurements indicate generated moderate room temperature or below mainly chlorine-ion vacancies.
