摘要: Permafrost temperatures from the surface down to about 20 m 10 boreholes distributed around three villages on coast of Hudson Strait (Salluit, Kangiqsujuaq, and Quaqtaq) were recorded analyzed for period 1988-1993. The results indicate that permafrost has been regularly cooling along southern shore Strait. observed trend in order 0.05{degrees}C yr{sup {minus}1} at 20-m depth is consistent with long-term regional air temperatures. It also coincides an increased rate since mid-1980s, which interpreted literature as being related recurrent changes thermohaline circulation Arctic North Atlantic oceans. weak variation active-layer thickness study sites leads conclusion climatic takes place principally through longer colder winters. 23 refs., 7 figs., 5 tabs.
