摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter highlights that number systems provide the basis for conveying and quantifying information. Number evolved presumably because early humans were equipped with a crude type of calculator, which was their 10 fingers. However, system is appropriate may be intractable use by machine such as computer. Likewise, machine, not suitable human use. The reviews characteristics are desirable in any system. It lists four important all: distinguishability symbols, arithmetic operations capability, error control tractability speed. To one degree or another, decimal numbers satisfies these hard-copy transfer information between humans.
