摘要: Schultze et al. (Biodiv Conserv 23:3519–3542, 2014) analysed criteria for the selection of strictly protected forest reserves in central Europe, but did not clarify value strict (IUCN type 1a) scientific research. We suggest that research areas (PAs) should be included are used their selection; particular, is essential monitoring reasons (species and habitats) establishing reserve, can contribute to testing available alternatives habitat management PAs. This particularly true reserves, since most which designated protection mid-aged, typically secondary successions from historically more open habitats. The may include manipulation non-manipulated reference (minimal intervention) need long-term studies, forests develop slowly. Strict ideal such research, strong means control land, whereas other land subject change. There many IUCN 1a a network would use only small proportion them. encourage conservation organisations researchers establish networks cooperation with PA managers.
