摘要: Giant dipole resonances are collective phenomena which can be found in systems ranging from atoms through clusters to solids. In atomic and solid state physics such excitations usually studied by soft X-ray absorption, photoelectron electron energy-loss spectroscopies. With the advent of third-generation synchrotron radiation sources, nonresonant inelastic scattering became a prominent tool study truly bulk sensitive shallow absorption edges with high energy photons. The method is not limited measuring transitions but allows final states different symmetry due monopole quadrupole employing its momentum-transfer dependence. this paper potential probe low-energy emphasized focus on selectivity, liquids pressure applications. As an example, spectra barium 4d-f giant resonance barite discussed.
