摘要: A growing body of research seeks to conceptualize race as a multi-dimensional construct, attempting move beyond dummy variable approach study social disparities. This uses ‘socially-assigned race’, ‘ascribed or ‘what others think you are’ opposed self-identified assess self-rated health status among representative the Latino population (n = 1,200). Our analysis shows how important lived experience Latinos and Hispanics (as measured by ascribed host control variables, including nativity national origin) is on self-reported health. Using series logistic regressions, we find support for ‘white advantage’ in that suggested literature, but this finding sensitive nativity, citizenship, origin. informs racial ethnic disparities, providing detailed explanation within socially-assigned disparities literature.
