摘要: With increased scrutiny surrounding the welfare of elephants in zoological institutions, it is important to have empirical evidence on their current status. If are not receiving adequate exercise, could lead obesity, which can many issues including acyclicity and potentially heart disease. The goal study was compare walking rates wild versus zoos determine if similar distances relative counterparts. Eleven throughout different habitats locations Botswana were compared 8 at San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Direct comparisons revealed no significant difference average zoo when with elephants. These results suggest that Park walk those may be meeting exercise needs.
