摘要: EVALUATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF STANDARDIZED AND PERSONALLY RELEVANT STIMULI IN TWO MOOD INDUCTION PROCEDURES Kathleen E. Hazlett, B.A. Marquette University, 2012 The experience of emotion is a critical component behavior, cognition, and general human functioning. In order to better understand emotional experience, researchers have utilized mood induction procedures (MIPs) elicit specific responses. Previous studies reviewed the effectiveness various MIPs; however, these do not account for more recently developed picture datasets are limited in their examination impact that personal relevance has on MIP effectiveness. present study examined changes using four different MIPs varied based stimuli type (either Picture or Vignette) participant (Personally Relevant Standardized). Additionally, factors related social desirability, regulation expression, functioning, personality were evaluated determine possible influences Seventy-eight undergraduates participated study. Results indicated no differences Vignette MIPs. However, personally relevant effective those standardized stimuli. Only Personally Positive was significantly correlated with variables. Generally, results suggest may benefit from tapping into experiences participants. given small effect sizes direct comparison MIPs, also want consider other (e.g., constraints experimental environment) when choosing which use.
