摘要: Abstract The basic unit of all living organisms is the cell, which surrounded by a 5 nm thick lipid bilayer-based plasma membrane. Colloid and interfacial chemistry have played pivotal role, as evidenced work Hooke, Newton, Gibbs, Langmuir others. On basis these findings insights, methods for forming bilayer membranes were discovered. development self-assembled ‘black’ or (BLMs planar bilayers) has opened research opportunities in studying hitherto unapproachable phenomena at interfaces bifaces. To impart relevant functions BLMs, variety compounds such ionophores, enzymes, receptors, pigments, nanoparticles been embedded. Some incorporated cause BLMs to exhibit nonlinear photoelectric effects. Our past benefited cross-fertilization ideas among various branches sciences. Further insights concerning principle biomembranes will come from collaborations investigators diverse background disciplines.
