摘要: Blood parasites of the sub-genus Haemoproteus have been reported in seabirds, particular species Suliformes order. These are transmitted by hippoboscid flies genus Olfersia; strong specificity has suggested between vector and its vertebrate host. We investigated prevalence infection two oceanic islands Western Indian Ocean: Europa Tromelin. In total, 209 blood samples were collected from great frigatebirds (Fregata minor), masked boobies (Sula dactylatra) red-footed sula). Forty-one also birds. Seventeen one fly on tested positive for presence polymerase chain reaction. Phylogenetic analyses based partial sequences Cytochrome b gene showed that closely related to iwa Pacific Ocean Caribbean. Plasmodium was detected a frigatebird Europa; however, placement phylogenetic tree could not be resolved. provide support transmission seabirds suggest migrations oceans favor large-scale distribution populations.
