摘要: The last few years have seen a marked increase in the research on biochemical and pharmacological consequences of repeated electroconvulsive shock (ECS), for several reasons. first reason is that therapy (ECT) still acknowledged as most successful treatment severe depressive illness (see Brandon et al., 1984: Royal College Psychiatrists, 1977; Fink, 1979). second greater insight has now been gained into mechanism action antidepressant drugs, so it seems reasonable to determine whether experimental effects ECS are similar those drugs. third ECT remains controversial treatment, thus understanding its may eventually lead development agent with efficacy but, be hoped, fewer side less public disquiet.
