摘要: Background Little is known about the factors that predispose children with congenital heart disease (CHD) to readmission soon after hospital discharge. We sought determine rates and risk for within 1 month among CHD. Methods Data were obtained from administrative databases record all hospitalizations province of Quebec. included 0 17 years CHD who hospitalized a cardiac diagnosis (an “index hospitalization”) between 1990 2005. Cox proportional hazards analysis was used identify predictors readmission. Results Among 3675 hospitalizations, there 518 readmissions (15%) 31 days. Median time 12 days (interquartile range 5-19 days). Readmissions occurred in same as index hospitalization 86% time. The most common diagnoses at (59%) respiratory illnesses (12%). Independent severe lesion, younger age, Friday or Saturday discharge, having an emergency department visit preceding 6 months, length >14 days, multiple (≥4) (either comorbid conditions). Having invasive procedure during reduced likelihood Conclusions Readmission 7 hospitalizations. Infants patients lesions those more likely be readmitted. may by avoiding discharge beginning weekend. Further studies are needed if targeted interventions will reduce high-risk patients.
