摘要: This communication reports preliminary data towards the development of a live ex vivo model persistent infection that is based on chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM), which can be used for pre-screening biomaterials with antimicrobial properties their and angiogenic potential. Our results showed it was possible to infect chicken embryos Staphylococcus aureus, one main types bacteria found in associated chronic wounds, maintain embryos’ survival up 48 h. Survival varied dose inoculum use time streptomycin application after infection. In infected yet viable embryos, blood vessels network CAM maintained minimal disruption. Microbiological tests could confirm infection, but quantification difficult. By publishing these results, we hope not only our group others within scientific community further this research establishment biomimetic reproducible models
