摘要: We examine the jet structure in ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ annihilation from two processes: (a) bremsstrahlung of a hard gluon and (b) emission meson at wide angle via constituent-interchange model (CIM). At center-of-mass energies 12 to 25 GeV, both processes, if present, are found broaden sharp transverse-momentum damping jets observed SPEAR. lower large transverse momentum we find that CIM process prevails. But by greater than 30 GeV gluonic should be dominant. also generated decay bound state new heavy quarks into three gluons. Should such (${m}_{q}\ensuremath{\gtrsim}5$ GeV) exist, this would provide an ideal place look for gluon-induced jets. Other topics have studied include (i) production four (ii) different possible fragmentation functions. Jet deep-inelastic lepton-hadron scattering processes is briefly considered. conclude probably cleanest search structure, whose existence striking evidence favor quantum chromodynamics (QCD). On other hand, absence necessitate reexaminat on our intuitive understanding QCD serious consideration field-theoretical hadronic models, e.g., quark-confining string, which, unlike QCD, does not possess degrees freedom.
