摘要: In searching the literature for present paper, it often proved difficult to determine authors’ definitions of salinity and brackish water. This was especially applicable articles published early this century which mentioned presence ostracods in salt waters used following confusing variety descriptive terms: ‘brackish’, ‘high chlorinity’, ‘natron’, ‘mineralized water’, or ‘with high content salts’. An additional difficulty provided by term ‘coastal pond’: usually not stated if pond connected adjacent sea not, even a short time. Confusion also arose when authors dealt with forms from Pontocaspian region, that is Caspian, Black Aral Seas; rarely clearly had actually been collected these inland seas lagoons (and were an sea).
