摘要: Abstract Background Saturated medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) as part of the parenteral lipid regimen (50% MCT and 50% long chain (LCT)) activate immune system in vitro . Fish oil (FO)-derived n-3 fatty acids (FA) inhibit saturated FA-induced activation via a toll-like receptor (TLR)-4 mediated mechanism. We hypothesized that effects MCTs on cells involve TLR-4 signaling these are modulated by FA present FO. Materials methods To test this hypothesis we assessed addition various commercially available mixed emulsions, inhibition MCT-induced human cell evaluation expression leukocyte membrane markers reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Results All MCT-containing emulsions activated leukocytes inducing changes stimulus induced ROS production, whereas MCT-free lacked effect. Moreover, to LCT/MCT did not prevent activation. inhibitors distinctly modulate function. Conclusion Taken together, findings suggest does is FO-, but exerted different pathways.
