摘要: The yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus has been pointed out as a promising microorganism for variety of industrial bioprocesses. Although genetic tools have developed this and different potential applications investigated, quantitative physiological studies rarely reported. Here, we report discuss the growth, substrate consumption, metabolite formation, respiratory parameters K. CBS 6556 during aerobic batch bioreactor cultivations, using defined medium with sugars sole carbon energy source, at 30 37 °C. Cultivations were carried both on single binary sugar mixtures. Carbon balances closed within 95 to 101 % in all experiments. Biomass CO2 main products cell metabolism, whereas by-products always present very low proportion (<3 % consumed), long full aerobiosis was guaranteed. On tested source (glucose, fructose, sucrose, lactose, galactose), maximum specific growth rate remained between 0.39 0.49 h−1, except galactose 37 °C, which only supported 0.31 h−1. Different behaviors observed mixtures investigated (glucose glucose galactose, lactose fructose lactose), observations agreement previously published data transport systems marxianus. We conclude that does not any special nutritional requirements; grows well range 37 °C sugars; is capable growing shorter period time than Saccharomyces cerevisiae, interesting from an point view; deviates tiny amounts towards maintained.
