摘要: Outpatient commitment (OPC), a major form of involuntary community-based treatment, has evolved in the United States on state-by-state basis amidst storm controversy. The polarizing debate that gone intensely about OPC for last two decades all too often been devoid data. This article reviews various arguments pro and con OPC, then examines research effectiveness OPC. Since newest data seem to support as useful tool dealing with specific subpopulations persons chronic mental illness, paper question whether is legitimate use government power. most extensive analysis this date occurred New York State Courts which have supported statute, Kendra’s Law. concludes an examination future states, calling particular further into determining whom, from clinical point view, should be delivered.
