Lattice dynamics study of the structural transition in IrTe2

摘要: In this work, we perform a systematic study of the lattice dynamics IrTe using temperature dependence X-ray diffraction experiment. It is found that structural symmetry changes from trigonal (space group ) into monoclinic () below phase transition (). Remarkably, experimental results show cell still insists , which coexists intrinsically with cell. After transition, proportion almost remains unchanged. The structure temperatures determined cooling and warming are 240 K 265 K, respectively. Moreover, superlattice 13.5 suggested to be caused by destabilization polymeric Te–Te bonds.
