摘要: Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) is often observed in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), although many subjects do not report the symptom. EDS associated with increased healthcare utilization and could be one of main determinants an accident risk. Its possible role as a marker cardiometabolic risk debated. The pathogenetic mechanisms include fragmentation, nocturnal intermittent hypoxemia, respiratory efforts, altered sympathovagal balance, depression, inflammatory, metabolic alterations. Subjective uncommon when OSA diagnosed after stroke or cardiac failure, more prominent symptom young than elderly people. Insomnia, instead EDS, may occur OSA, particularly among women mild disorders. treatment usually greatly improves but it effective about 6 % subjects.
