摘要: Median sternotomy is a commonly performed incision with distinct advantages for exposure of mediastinal and pulmonary hilar structures [1]. However, well-defined incidence wound complications associated sternotomy, which are costly potentially lethal in cases deep sternal infection (DSWI) or mediastinitis [2-13]. Not only DSWI significant perioperative mortality, but historically even successfully treated reduced midand long-term survival compared matched cardiac surgical patients without this dreaded postoperative complication [7-12]. In the past 10 years, we have accumulated extensive experience managing as referral center these difficult problems. We others formalized protocol utilizing negative pressure therapy allows salvage improved outcomes majority [14-16]. This report describes our presents results 18 years.
