摘要: Median sternotomy is a commonly performed incision with distinct advantages for exposure of mediastinal and pulmonary hilar structures [1]. However, well-defined incidence wound complications associated sternotomy, which are costly potentially lethal in cases deep sternal infection (DSWI) or mediastinitis [2-13]. Not only DSWI significant perioperative mortality, but historically even successfully treated reduced midand long-term survival compared matched cardiac surgical patients without this dreaded postoperative complication [7-12].
