Approaching Equilibrium Conversion in the Isomerization of Supercritical n-Butane by Using Sulfated Zirconia Catalysts Promoted with Iron

摘要: The application of supercritical temperatures and pressures in the isomerization n-butane is a means to avoid deactivation catalyst by coke enhance throughputs. However, catalysts consisting unpromoted sulfated zirconia are not sufficiently active attain equilibrium conversions n-butane. Through impregnation iron salts on zirconium hydroxide, we produced containing 1 wt % with strongly enhanced activity. In pelletized form, these enabled processing at close thermodynamic equilibrium. At preferred reaction temperature 488 K, yield isobutane amounted 43%. Catalysts manufactured extrusion were considerably less active.
