摘要: Despite major advances in the treatment and survival of patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), weight loss wasting remain common problems. In HIV-infected population, is associated lower CD4+ cell counts an independent predictor mortality. The etiology complex multifactorial. We discuss, on basis a large longitudinal cohort that examined nutritional status HIV infection, data from present clinical era. definition, prevalence, significance HIV-associated are summarized. discussed for 2 main categories: inadequate nutrient intake altered metabolism. Finally, studies interventions to treat discussed. This information intended raise awareness among health care providers important acquired syndrome-defining conditions, despite advent HAART.
