摘要: Facultatively anaerobic, nitrogen-fixing bacterial strains were isolated from sources as diverse the gastrointestinal tracts of sea urchins collected in Nova Scotia, Canada, and surfaces reeds growing a drainage ditch Kent, England. These placed genus Vibrio Pacini 1865 family Vibrionaceae on basis their morphological, physiological, biochemical characteristics, well guanine-plus-cytosine contents deoxyribonucleic acids (45.9 to 47.2 mol%). They clearly distinguished currently recognized species by combination traits, including production nitrogenase, inability hydrolyze casein, acid, gelatin, Tween 80, ability ferment L-arabinose, cellobiose, salicin, D-xylose, presence an arginine dihydrolase system. Deoxyribonucleic acid homology studies supported recognition these new species, for which name diazotrophicus is proposed. Strain ATCC 33466 (= strain 1 = NS1) type strain.
