摘要: The discovery of current filaments in GaAs photoconductive semiconductor switches (PCSS) raised concerns about the location and density distribution during high gain switching. This paper describes experiments using fiber-optic coupled laser diode arrays (LDA) to control number PCSS. Infrared (IR) images recombination radiation, that is emitted from surface PCSS, show precisely where concentrated. These were recorded as configuration switch test parameters varied. Up twenty individually-coupled diodes fibers used initiate multiple, simultaneous filaments. Fibers configured a row both parallel perpendicular direction current. Two types performed: voltage. System impedances 0.25 {Omega} 50 with currents up 5.2 kA initial charging voltages 100 kV, respectively. Switch sizes 1{times}5 mm{sup 2} 15{times}38 (parallel {times} current). With system charged 4 kV (40 kV/cm across PCSS), individual triggered 150 nJ optical trigger energy. In this case, atmore » ends near contacts pairs 250 {mu}m fibers, each which delivered 75 140 ps. use multiple fiber distribute more uniformly improved performance.
