摘要: Abstract Beam profiling during patient treatment in protontherapy requires ultra-thin monitors to preserve the high beam quality. For detectors upstream line, a material budget as low ∼ 15 μ m water-equivalent is needed. In addition, current trend of dose escalation treat highly resistant tumors implies challenging requirements on monitor radiation hardness and dynamic range. We propose new type profiler, PEPITES, using secondary electron emission (SEE) built with thin-film techniques. The profiled by crossing pattern or series patterns which emit SEE signal can be made originates from few nanometers next surface. are deposited membranes, which, contrast common systems like ionization chambers, free mechanical constraints then afford higher absorbed doses thin achievable. A simple demonstrator prototype has been successfully operated proton at ARRONAX cyclotron St Herblain wide range currents (100 fA 10 nA) several energies (30 - 68 MeV). results these tests presented, our plans for prototypes mentioned.
