摘要: The aim of the present study was to evaluate risk intrauterine growth delay in offspring epileptic mothers and quantify risks exposure antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Data concerning 870 newborns, prospectively collected Canada, Japan Italy, using same design, were pooled analyzed. overall proportion newborns whose body weight (7.8%) or head circumference (11.1%) at birth below 10th percentile not increased. However, logistic regression analysis showed that small significantly higher Italian than Japanese (RR 4.2; 95% CI: 2.2-8.0) Canadian children 2.6; 1.1-6.5), exposed polytherapy 2.7; 1.2-6.3), phenobarbital (PB) 3.6; 1.4-9.4) primidone (PRM) 4.5; 1.5-13.8). Country also only factor affecting low weight, with having a 5.2; 2.6-10.4) 8.8; 2.0-38.1) children. Due categories, influence AED doses plasma concentrations studied for each individual AED, without adjustment other potential confounding factors. A clear dose-dependent effect found PB PRM terms both concentration-dependent circumferences. size difference between two populations, which is partially explained by differences therapeutic regimens, suggests genetic, environmental ethnic factors need be taken into account when considering possible explanations.
