摘要: Purpose We compared the safety and efficacy of two hypofractionated irradiation schedules for elderly low performance status patients with inoperable symptomatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods Patients that entered study were either unfit or without response concerning chemotherapy. randomized 14 (group A) vs 15 B) who underwent different radiotherapy schedules. Group Α a scheme 13x3 Gy, while group B received 2x8.5 Gy one fraction 6 week apart. Efficacy was assessed in terms disease-free survival (DFS), tumor overall (OS).Toxicity according to RTOG/EORTC criteria duration symptoms also evaluated. Results Median follow up 3 years. age 64.5 years 73 B). Mean values symptom palliation higher A (3.20±1.21 2.21±0.97, p=0.037), respectively. EORTC/RTOG toxicity significantly (p=0.046) (1.57±0.51) (1.13±0.35). Duration lower (p=0.001). OS similar between groups, DFS better than (p=0.023). Conclusions Although safe conclusions are difficult be ascertained, schedule might an alternative offering adequate palliation, good control acceptable toxicity.
