摘要: The objective of these experiments was to test the hypothesis that major alkaloid classes found in endophyte-infected tall fescue could act as growth promoters for vascular smooth muscle. Bovine muscle cells (VSMC) from dorsal metatarsal artery were grown vitro and exposed five concentrations (10(-6), 10(-8), 10(-9), 10(-11) 0 M) ergonovine, alpha-ergocryptine, ergovaline, N-acetyl loline 48 h. mitogenic potential alkaloids tested on both actively growing (serum fed, 10% fetal bovine serum) quiescent starved, 0.1% assess need serum constituents induced or toxicity. Ergonovine stimulated (P < .07) VSMC at 10(-6) M concentration culturs 10(-8) cultures. alpha-Ergocryptine .01) cultures 10(-9) Ergovaline exhibited a dual activity culture, stimulating = .06) but inhibiting .05) M. This duality also noted loline: inhibited effects support part may contribute complications cattle grazing through hyperplasia intima. would result decreased luminal diameter blood vessels resultant decrease flow afflicted tissues. diminished tissues tissue death reduced ability dissipate heat.
