Reproductive pattern of an exploited dusky grouper Epinephelus marginatus (Lowe 1834) (Pisces: Serranidae) population in the western Mediterranean

摘要: The reproductive parameters of the dusky grouper, Epinephelus marginatus, in Balearic Islands (western Mediterranean) were studied with a histological analysis specimens caught by artisanal and recreational spear fisheries. examination gonads showed that grouper spawning season extends from late spring to end summer clear peaks July August. monthly variation hepatosomatic index (HSI) Le Cren condition suggests reserves for gonad development obtained energy stored liver before spawning.
