CHEMISTRY: Chemical Topology and Interlocking Molecules

摘要: Over the past 40 years, chemists have sought to create complex interlocking molecular structures. In his Perspective, [Siegel][1] discusses work reported in same issue by two groups, which synthesis of intricate interwoven molecules has been taken a new level. [ Wang et al .][2] report creation novel multicatenane from interpenetrating calixarenes. Chichak .][3] present Borromean link form. The hope is that increasingly topology will not only provide aesthetically attractive structures, but may find use applications such as nanotechnology.
