摘要: This background paper describes the work carried out on one component of a larger World Bank study entitled The Economics Adaptation to Climate Change (EACC), whose aim is estimate costs adapting climate change in developing countries over period 2010-50. overall objective EACC help decision makers better understand and assess risks posed by design strategies adapt change. further intended inform international community's efforts, including UNFCCC Bali Action Plan, provide access adequate, predictable, sustainable support, new additional resources most vulnerable meet adaptation costs. In section two, context developed, outlining potential impacts water supply riverine flooding, which regions population groups are likely be severely affected change, what experience exists sectors terms adaptation. authors also information on, examples of, policies, programs, projects that can used flood protection, thereby addressing aims two. A summary previous research economic aspects climate-change-related sector provided three. four, present methods address three four consultancy; is, estimating industrial municipal protection. results quantitative assessment presented discussed five. Finally, conclusions, limitations, recommendations six.
