摘要: Electrifying transportation can reduce or eliminate dependence on foreign fuels, emission of green house gases, and pollutants. One challenge is finding a pathway for vehicles that gains wide market acceptance to achieve meaningful benefit. This paper evaluates several approaches aimed at making plug-in electric (EV) hybrid (PHEVs) cost-effective including opportunity charging, replacing the battery over vehicle life, improving reducing cost, providing power directly during portion its travel. Many combinations PHEV range are included. For each case, model accounts cycle life national distribution driving distances size optimally. Using current estimates only dynamically plugged-in was consumer. Significant improvements in cost also made PHEVs more than today's (HEVs) conventional internal combustion engine (CVs).
