摘要: A mechanism is required to repress the expression and transposition of transposable elements (TEs) ensure stable inheritance genomic information. Accumulat ing evidence indicates that small non-coding RNAs are important regulators TEs. Among RNAs, PIWI-interacting (piRNAs) s erve as guide molecules for recognizing silencing numerous TEs work in collaboration with PIWI subfamily proteins gonadal cells. Disruption pi RNA pathway correlates loss proper organization, gene control fertility. Moreover, recent studies on t he molecular mechanisms piRNA biogenesis function have shown piRNAs act maternally inherited genic elements, transferring information about repressed progeny. These findings enable a explanation mysterious epigenetic phenomena, such hybrid dysgenesis TE adaptation age. Here, I review our current knowledge derived from biochemical genetic discuss how utilized maintain genome organization provide non-DNA mainly focus D rosophila but also comparisons other species.
