摘要: Many polypeptides isolated from shallow water cnidarian species have been utilized as valuable biochemical tools in both basic and applied biological sciences. Deepwater might be another potential resource for novel tools. However, because of limited access to samples deep-sea environments, bioactive never before reported this group. In study, we collected twelve jellyfish (nine hydrozoans three scyphozoans) using a plankton net that was specially designed collecting organisms, prepared water-soluble extracts, presumably containing polypeptides, these jellyfishes. The extracts were subjected cytotoxicity, hemolytic activity, crustacean lethal toxicity tests. the cytotoxicity test, six out nine tested hydrozoan showed activity. activity only none scyphozoan jellyfishes lethality two all These results revealed high incidence substances occurring Furthermore, heat-treated methanol-treated crude lost their bioactivities. Thus, it is likely compounds unstable (proteins). This first published report on bioactivities
