摘要: Proposes an integrative theoretical framework for studying psychological aspects of incentive relationships. During the time that is behaviorally salient, organism especially responsive to incentive-related cues. This sustained sensitivity requires postulating a continuing state (denoted by construct, current concern) with definite onset (commitment) and offset (consummation or disengagement). Disengagement follows frustration, accompanies behavioral process extinction, involves incentive-disengagement cycle invigoration, aggression, depression, recovery. Depression thus normal part disengagement may be either adaptive maladaptive individual but probably species. Implications motivation; etiology, symptomatology, treatment depression; drug use; other social problem areas are discussed. (41/2 p ref) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
