摘要: Inattentional blindness refers to the finding that people do not always see what appears in their gaze. Though inattentional affects large percentages of people, it is unclear if there are individual differences susceptibility. The present study addressed whether attentional control, as reflected by variability working memory capacity, modulate susceptibility blindness. Participants watched a classic video (Simons & Chabris, 1999) and were instructed count passes among basketball players, wherein 58% noticed unexpected: person wearing gorilla suit. When participants accurate with pass counts, individuals higher capacity more likely report seeing (67%) than those lesser (36%). These results suggest control potential mechanism underlying apparent modulation across individuals.
