摘要: Vitamin A deficiency caused by insufficient intake of β-carotene has emerged as one the most important problems afflicting people worldwide. Traditional yellow maize is predominated lutein and zeaxanthin; but contains low par below daily requirement for humans. natural variant crtRB1 allele increases in kernel blocking its conversion to zeaxanthin. In present study, genetic diversity analyses were carried out among 24 diverse inbreds possessing rare crtRB1. The mean was 9.3 μg/g, with 14 having 9.1–18.8 μg/g. Among exotic origin, HP704-23, HP704-22, HP467-15, HP465-41 HP467-20 promising high β-carotene. case developed India, VQL-2-PV, VQL1-PV, V345-PV, V335-PV, HKI161-PV, MGU-PV-2, HKI1105-PV, HKI323-PV MGU-PV-3 identified possess These are unique germplasm therefore holds immense promise biofortification programme Molecular profiling these using 65 SSRs distributed throughout genome generated 268 alleles a 4.12 per locus. polymorphism information content varied from 0.21 0.82 0.58. study detected 12 each alleles. Genetic dissimilarity ranged 0.40 0.94 an average 0.79. Cluster grouped genotypes into four major clusters, principal coordinate analysis depicted nature consistent their pedigree. potential hybrid combinations higher that can be directly utilized programme.
