摘要: BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Diminished folate status is associated with enhanced colorectal carcinogenesis. This study investigated the potential chemopreventive role of dietary in dimethylhydrazine cancer model. SUBJECTS METHODS: Sprague-Dawley rats were fed diets containing either 0, 2 (daily requirement), 8 or 40 mg folate/kg diet for 20 weeks. After five weeks diet, injected dimethyl-hydrazine (44 mg/kg) weekly 15 Fifteen after first injection dimethylhydrazine, all killed. Folate was determined, and entire colorectum from each rat analysed macroscopic microscopic neoplasms. RESULTS: Plasma colonic concentrations correlated directly levels (p < 0.005). The incidence neoplasms similar among four groups. However, average number tumours per decreased progressively increasing up to mg/kg 0.05). In strongly procarcinogenic milieu used this study, supplementation at times basal requirement rates tumour development that intermediate, not statistically distinct, observed 0 diet. CONCLUSIONS: These data indicate model, (a) leads a progressive reduction evolution foci; (b) beyond does convey further benefit.
